Suh Se Ok

Suh Se Ok (1929-2020), also known as Sanjeong, modernized traditional Korean ink painting and established a unique artistic realm. His works express nature and humanity with concise lines and forms, and he pursued timeless beauty through his "Human" series. Suh received the 52nd Arts Award from the National Academy of Arts of the Republic of Korea (2007) and the Silver Crown Cultural Medal (2012). He donated 100 major works to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2014, and after his passing, his family donated his entire collection to the Seongbuk Museum of Art.
