LG OLED ART Collection presents the work Wounds and Absent Objects II (2022) by renowned contemporary artist Anish Kapoor, inspired by the world’s first rollable OLED TV, LG Signature OLED R. The work embodies Kapoor’s devoted exploration of colors, his endeavor for decades, in an 8-minute video. Each color makes a soft, perfect transition, repeatedly moving and expanding through a series of deep, full hues. LG OLED technology portrays Kapoor’s colors even more vividly than the reality, painting their movements in perfect harmony. Kapoor encourages spectators not to look at the images from the outside, but to try to go inside the image, and imagine what it would be like to project the surrounding space as a personal space, and to stay within it.

“More and more I wanted to make work towards experience and away from form, in a way that something literally draws you in, that literally gives you a sense of vertigo, disorientation, whatever, so it becomes more and more a physical experience.” _ Anish Kapoor

Wounds and Absent Objects II, made in 2022, is a sequel to the 1997 work Wounds and Absent Objects I, which was part of a “TV Sculpture” program commissioned by BBC Channel 4, and designed for TVs at the time. The new Wounds and Absent Objects II, created in combination withLG Signature OLED R, presents a futuristic three-dimensional effect, as if it were a sculpture changing its shape according to the movement of the rollable screen.

The exhibition invites spectators to engage in an in-depth appreciation of the past, present and future of Anish Kapoor’s very special work Wounds and Absent Objects.
